Nanny Goat
Queensberry, Central Otago

INTRODUCTION

Nanny Goat Vineyard is named after the wild goats that roam the mountainous terrain of Central Otago.

It seemed to be a fair reflection of our determination to succeed, adapt and thrive in the rugged and often extreme climates of Central Otago – much like the nimble and sure footed wild goats of the region have done before us.

From our inception and the inaugural release of our Pinot Noir in 2005, Nanny Goat Vineyard has strived to produce wines with elegance, concentration and balance while allowing each individual parcel of fruit to tell its own unique story.

Pinot Noir is a fickle varietal that demands the utmost attention, both in the vineyard and in the winery to bring its true potential to the fore. We call it the pursuit of magic.

Winemaker Alan Peters Oswald believes it is his job to make wines that interpret the beauty and boldly contrasting origins of the fruit. Wines that speak for themselves and are not veiled by excessive winemaking intervention.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Our Vineyard lies in the Queensberry sub-region, approximately halfway between Cromwell and Wanaka alongside the Mata Au/Clutha River at the base of the of the Northern end of the Pisa Mountain range. Today, the 19.6 Hectare estate has 10.91Ha under vine, 75% Pinot Noir, 11% Chardonnay and 14% Pinot Gris vines planted in 2004 and 2005. As part of our long term Estate planning, additional plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines have been completed in 2020 and 2021.

Our Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are exclusively sourced from our BioGro certified organic Vineyard in Queensberry. The wines have a powerful and unique elegance, indicative of our Vineyard. Rich and densely structured yet at the same time supple and beautifully perfumed, quintessentially Queensberry.
